These Bow Tie connecting rods have profiled beams. This machining operation reduces the finished rod weight by approximately 50 grams. A profiled 5.70" Bow Tie rod typically weighs 739 grams, with 529 grams on its big end. Profiled rods are more uniform in weight than unmachined rods, and are therefore easier to balance in sets. Profiled Bow Tie rods are shotpeened after machining.
